- Through my research, I found that Shakespeare coined many phrases and words that we consider cliché today, including "wild goose chase" and "gloomy" (http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20140527-say-what-shakespeares-words), that his play Julius Shakespeare inspired an actor named John Wilkes Booth to become a real-life Brutus (http://mentalfloss.com/article/29400/quick-10-10-ways-shakespeare-changed-everything), and that he was one of the first authors to use modern prose in his writing (http://www.shakespeare-online.com/essays/impdortance.html). I think that the first influence is the most important, because it allows us today to express ourselves in ways we wouldn't be able to without Shakespeare.
- I chose to advertise the lightbulb because it is one of the most useful modern inventions that we take for granted today. People in Shakespeare's time didn't have these; they had to use candles and oil lamps, which involved open flames in many cases, and proved to be high fire risks, not to mention much dimmer than today's lightbulbs. I added the electrical generator into my advertisement because the lightbulb would be useless otherwise.
- In Shakespeare's comedies, people do incredibly stupid things and they generally work out. I really wish that would happen in reality. I would take more chances in life if I knew that any hair-brained scheme I could concoct would likely work out.
